Lakeview Civic Community Organization

LCCO is pleased to have awarded eight scholarships for the 2025 calendar year.  Two scholarships were awarded in each of the four scholarship categories:  academic, community service, financial and legacy. LCCO congratulates each recipient and wishes them all great success in continuing to pursue their education and, most importantly, their dreams.  

Treyvon Avery (Lakeview Legacy Scholarship)

Mr. Treyvon C. Avery was awarded the Lakeview Legacy Scholarship for 2025.  He is the son of Angela Dawson and the grandson of Johnny “Butch” Looney who attended Lakeview High School from 1957-1966 before transferring to Marshall County High School.  

Trevyon is a 2025 graduate of Guntersville High School where he was member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was named to the All-County basketball (1st team) and All-County football teams for four years.  In the fall, Treyvon will begin his freshman year at the University of North Alabama where he will play division one football for the UNA Lions while pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.  After completing his education, Treyvon’s career plans include coaching football and basketball in the Guntersville City school system.  

Sannera Heard (Lakeview Legacy Scholarship)

Ms. Sannera T. Heard was awarded the Lakeview Alumni Legacy Scholarship for 2025.  She  is  daughter of Latasha Martin and Mario Heard and is a 2024 graduate of Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama.  Sannera’s great-grandmother, Julia Simpson, is a graduate of Lakeview High School. 

Sannera is a second year student at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia.  As a young, black artist, Sannera aims to make an impact on the design industry giving hope to other young, black girls.  

Chloe Grace Holder (Financial Scholarship)

Ms. Chloe Grace Holder is a recipient of the LCCO Financial Scholarship. Chloe is the daughter of Allison Holder and is a 2023 graduate of Guntersville High School.  She attended Snead State Community College for two years where she was a member of the Cadbury Club. Chloe was recently accepted into the Calhoun Community College Nursing Program and will begin her studies there in the fall.  

In addition to being a full-time student, Chloe also works full-time in the mother and baby unit at the Women and Children’s Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.  Upon completing her education, Chloe plans to pursue a career as a labor and delivery nurse.  

Major Kelley (Academic Scholarship)

Mr. Major Kelley is a recipient of the LCCO Academic Scholarship for 2025. He is the son of Patrick and Samantha Kelley.  Along with his twin brother, Elijah, Major is a 2025 graduate of Boaz High School. Major finished his high school education with a 3.4 GPA and was a member of the baseball team.

Major will attend Lawson State Community College in the fall.  He hopes to use the lessons that he learned from playing baseball, such as discipline and mental toughness, to help him during his collegiate studies.  Upon completing his education, Major plans to return and give back to his community.   

Jamerah Morgan (Ophelia P. Chander Community Service Scholarship)

Ms. Jamerah Morgan is one of two recipients of the first Ophelia P. Chandler Community Service Scholarships awarded by LCCO.  Jamerah is the daughter of Jeronda Morgan and Donald Morgan.  She is a 2024 graduate of Guntersville High School where she was a member of HOSA and Pulse.  

Jamerah recently completed her freshman year at the University of Alabama where she is a nursing major with a 4.0 GPA.  Last spring, she was awarded the Sandral Hullet Award named in honor of one of the first African-American family medicine residents to graduate from The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa Family Medicine Residency Program. 

Jamerah is currently a Crimson Scholar and this fall will serve as Crimson Scholar mentor. Upon completing her education, Jamerah plans to pursue a career as a registered nurse working in underserved areas, promoting health education, and advocating for healthcare access for all.

Mikala-DeZaray Richey (Ophelia P. Chandler Community Service Scholarship)

Ms. Mikala-DeZaray Richey is one of two recipients of the first Ophelia P. Chandler Community Service Scholarship awarded by LCCO.  She is the daughter of Jamila Richey and is a 2025 graduate of Guntersville High School. 

Mikala has a long history of community service having performed volunteer work for the Boaz Senior Center, the Back to School Bash, Blessings in a Backpack, Earth Day Community Cleanup, Church Has Left the Building, and the United Way Donation Drive.  As a high school student, she was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, the National Honor Society, the Interact Club, the Leo Club, and Pulse. Mikala-DeZaray served as a Chick-fil-A Leader Academy Ambassador of Finance, a Mayor’s Youth Council Representative, and a Marshall County Youth Leaders Representative. She also participated in concert band, marching band, indoor track and field, choir, and the Theater Club. 

Mikala will begin her collegiate studies this fall as a freshman at the University of Alabama where she plans to major in Accounting and minor in International Business. Mikala-DeZaray plans to pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant, eventually owning and operating her own accounting business. Her desire is to build a career founded upon service, empowerment, and financial education.

Olivia Sales (Academic Scholarship)

Ms. Oliva R. Sales is a recipient of the LCCO Academic Scholarship for 2025.  Olivia is the granddaughter of Winda Gail Smith, and she is a 2025 graduate of Grissom High School, completing her studies with a 3.7 GPA.  While at Grissom, Olivia was a member of the Art Club, French Club, and the Key Club.  

This fall, Olivia will begin her college career at the Calhoun Community College.  Her desire is to serve in the justice system and the health care field, by obtaining an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Nursing.  By pursing degrees in these two fields of study, Olivia hopes to give back to her community by providing care, guidance and support to others where needed.  

Tristan Tibbs (Financial Scholarship)

Mr. Tristin Tibbs is the recipient of one of two financial scholarships awarded by LCCO in 2025.  He is the son of Keith and Anita Tibbs, and he is a 2024 graduate of Sparkman High School in Harvest, Alabama.  

Tristin is currently a sophomore at Alabama A&M University where he is pursing his degree in computer science with a concentration in cybersecurity.  His interest in this field began during his sophomore year of high school, and he is looking forward to the “hands on” experience that he will receive during his sophomore year at AAMU. Tristan believes that pursuing a career in Cybersecurity will enable him to help his family, friends, community, and the world, by protecting systems, networks and personal information from outside attacks aimed to do harm and steal information.
